Song Hye Kyo (born February 26, 1982) is a South Korean model and actress. Song made her debut by winning the Grand Prize in model search in SunKyung Smart and starring in a Sunday morning drama called Happy Morning (KBS, 1996). She starred in number of hit dramas including All In, Autumn Fairy Tale, and Full House. Due to her popularity she can be seen frequently on advertisements when she is not acting. She is currently signed to Eden 9 talent agency.

Career

full-house-09 Song debuted in the entertainment industry when she won the Grand Prize in SunKyung Smart, a school uniform company in 1996 when she was finishing her third year in junior high school. It was not long until she starred in her first drama, Happy Morning. Since then, she would continued to star in a string of various dramas and sitcoms but it wasn’t until the KBS drama Autumn Fairy Tale in 2000 with Song Seung-hun and Won Bin that Song rose to fame throughout Asia. The show quickly became popular as it depicted a tragic love story between three people.

Song’s popularity continued to climb when she played a leading role in the poker drama All In, alongside Lee Byung-Hun. The drama was so popular that the title of the show itself entered everyday vocabulary in Korea.

Song then played as a supporting role in the drama Sunlight Pours Down, and later in the popular TV comedy series Full House, in which she co-starred with pop figure Rain. Full House became one of the highest rating drama during its year. After the successful Full House, Song starred in the movie, My Girl And I, which was critically panned by audience and critics alike. Song went on a 2-year hiatus afterward, returning to acting to star in her second film, the movie-version of Hwang Jin-i, which was released in South Korea on June 6, 2007, as the kisaeng Hwang Jin-i. Though promoted heavily, it fared poorly at the box office.

She is planning to release a video album, produced by StarM Planning entertainment company because she has been pursuing her dream of becoming a “hallyu queen” in Japan. However, while the shooting is already completed, the release date is still unconfirmed. She also became known in computer graphics circles when Indonesian 3D artist Max Edwin Wahyudi created a remarkable quality 3D picture of her. Not only does she act, she models for several big name clothing companies such as Levi, Laneige, etc. In late 2008, Song starred in KBS2 Miniseries The World They Live In, together with fellow Korean actor Hyun Bin. At the 2008 Cannes Festival, Director John Woo announced Song will be starring in his next work 1949, joining Taiwanese actor Chang Chen. 1949 started filming at the end of 2008 and aims to release sometime in 2010.

The World That They Live In (KBS2, 2008) – Broadcasting station, especially television drama production, is often called as the core of desire and materialism. TV station is the place of envy for many people, but they also criticize it as the place where unethical thoughts are generalized. However, those who work in drama production team are not different from us; they are common people who need love and care just like others.
Full House (KBS, 2004) – Han Ji-Eun (Song Hye Kyo) lives in a house called Full House, built by her father. She is an aspiring script writer. One day, two of her friends, for money reasons, trick her and sell her house. They trick her saying that she won a free vacation, which is when through fate she meets Lee Young-Jae. They sit next to each other on the plane and she discovers that she is sitting next to the actor that is known to be the biggest player. Through comedic events they get acquainted – when she returns from a vacation, she discovers her house has been sold to Lee Young-Jae (Rain), an actor who has just shot to stardom. Though they don’t get along with each other, as she is messy and he has a bad temper and an affection for cleaning, they agree to live with each other and Ji-Eun works as his maid in order to buy her house back. Out of a misunderstanding and Young-Jae’s ill-fated try to make the love of his life, Kang Hye-Won (Han Eun Jung) jealous, Young-Jae marries Ji-Eun. They set up a contract for the marriage to last six months. During that time, complications ensue and Ji-Eun and Young-Jae become attracted to each other. Also, Ji-Eun starts to hold a strong bond with Young-Jae’s family. However, Young-Jae’s bad temper along with the romantic attentions of Yoo Min-Hyuk (Kim Sung Soo)…
Shining Days (SBS, 2004) – Yeon Woo (Song Hye Kyo) grew up happy in a loving family. One day, her father had died mysteriously, and her mother remarried a man who was 10 years younger than her. Misfortunes never come singly. Her mother died of Wilson’s disease and her step-father ran away with money. Min Ho (Ryu Seung Bum), an old friend of hers, is always there to comfort her. Min Ho decided to be a policeman to catch a murderer who killed Yeon Woo’s father. Eun Sup (Jo Hyun Jae) came back to Korea with the sole purpose of stopping his lover Soo Ah (Choi Yoo Jung) from getting married, but Soo Ah gave him an outright denial. To make matter worse, his father sent people over to his hotel to catch him. He ran away from the hotel and he accidentally fell into the subway track and became unconscious.
All In (SBS, 2003) - As a kid, all Kim In Ha ever did was follow his uncle around and help him cheat in gambling. As a high school student, he hung out with his friends at the basement of a theater. As Kim In Ha gets to know Choi Jeong Won, a model student and also the son of a very rich family, In Ha tries to tempt him into doing mischevious deeds.

Hotelier (MBC, 2001) - Jin Young (Song Yun Ah), a very open-minded and energetic woman, worked for the Seoul Hotel. Her ex-boyfriend Tae Joon (Kim Seung Woo) resigned and had left for Vegas three years earlier due to an unfortunate incident w/ a guest. The owner of the hotel had always believed in Tae Joon even more so than his own son, Young Jae (Park Jung Chul). When he died of a heart attack, his wife realized that Jin Young must go to Vegas to bring Tae Joon back so he could help run the hotel, which was falling into pieces. Their rival, Kim Book Man (Han Jin Hee), was determined to acquire the Seoul Hotel.
Autumn Tale (KBS2, 2000) – The story begins during the teenage years of the two main characters: Yoon Joon-suh (played by Choi Woo Hyuk) and Yun Eun-suh (played by Moon Geun Young). They are the children of a rich professor and believed they are biologically brother and sister until Eun-suh gets in an automobile accident. At the beginning, Eun-Suh is very popular in school whereas Shin-Ae is smart but does not get the attention she craves for from the teacher and their classmates. Later, their situations are reversed when the switch is discovered.

First Love (KBS, 1996) – Choi Soo Jung has the role of the older brother of Bae Yong Joon in a drama that gives us the impact of having love for the first time.
