Im Yoona (임윤아), born May 30, 1990, commonly known as Yoona (윤아), is a Korean singer, actress, model and dancer. She is a 2009 graduate of Daeyoung High School and is currently attending Dongguk University. She is a member of the Korean girl group Girls’ Generation and was known as the 1st member to join. Yoona made her debut as a singer on August 5, 2007. She had also made her debut as an actress in the 2007 Korean drama, 9 Ends 2 Outs.

Lim Yoona was born in Seoul, South Korea. At a young age, she auditioned at the SM Saturday Open Casting Audition and joined the company in 2002. She began to train with the other trainees under the same company in the areas of acting, singing and dancing. During her training days, Yoona appeared on some music videos of other SM artists. She was trained in 5 years before debuting as part of Girls’ Generation.

Television

Yoona made her debut as an actress in 2007 with the drama 9 Ends 2 Outs. In 2008, she acted in the drama Woman of Matchless Beauty before her first leading role in the daily drama You Are My Destiny. In the drama, Yoona played the role of an tough happy-go-lucky orphan Jang Saebyuk who received an eye cornea donation from a dying woman (Kim Nayoung) after she lost her sight due to an accident. Her fate became entwined with the woman’s family who slowly accept her as a part of their family as time goes by. Yoona is currently filming her new 2009 drama Cindrella Man alongside Kwon Sang Woo. She had her hair cut to fit her role as a mature fashion designer.

You Are My Destiny (KBS1, 2008) – Jang Sae Byuk is a a girl who tries to find a new meaning in life after she receives an eye cornea transplant from the doctor that took care of her after her accident. That doctor, Kim Na Young, died in a car accident on her way back from Africa. Sae Byuk becomes close with the Na Young’s family after finding them. The family slowly accepts her as part of the family. Kang Ho Se and Kim Tae Poong, Na Young’s twin brother, have disliked each other since they were young kids. This is mostly Tae Poong hates Ho Se because Ho Se’s family was rich and because Tae Poong’s father was Ho Se’s father’s driver and his mother was the maid.
